Early Savers (Ages 0-5)

Start building a secure financial foundation for your child from day one. This account is designed for parents and guardians to easily manage and grow their child’s savings, making it simple to introduce the concept of money early.

Growing Savers (Ages 6–12)

YOUTH ACCOUNT FAQs

What happens to the account after my child turns 18?

When a minor turns 18, their accounts will convert into a Smart Saver account and a standard checking account. Parents or guardians can remain a joint owner on the savings and checking account, or you can choose to remove yourself from your teen’s accounts once they reach the age of 18.

How can I sign up for Direct Deposit?

To sign up for direct deposit please contact your employer or payment provider for details. Simply provide the following People First Routing/Transit Number – 231379115 and your credit union account number.

Do I have to open a checking account when I join People First?

No, but to benefit from other services like our Visa® Debit Card and Bill Payer, it would be beneficial to you. Plus, our checking account is FREE, and there is no minimum balance requirement.

Can I open multiple savings accounts for my child?

No, your child can only have one Early Savers, Growing Savers, or Smart Savers account per child.

Disclosures

1To be eligible for an Early Savers, Growing Savers, or Smart Savers Youth Savings account, the primary account owner must be under the age of 18. Limit one account per primary owner’s Social Security Number (SSN). Accounts for members younger than 18 require a parent or guardian as a joint owner of the account. The minor’s Social Security Number (SSN) must be provided at account opening, as well as their birth certificate or a valid government-issued photo ID.

2Youth account holders with an Early Savers or Growing Savers Youth Savings account will receive a $5 bonus deposit on their birthday each year. The bonus will be deposited into the account by the end of the birth month up to the child’s 12th birthday. To be eligible, the account must be open and in good standing at the time of their birthday. Only one birthday bonus is awarded per account holder each year. An average balance of $100 or more in the account is required to receive the bonus.

3Mobile Deposit eligibility requires the account to be in good standing and meet all other eligibility requirements.

4The Good Grade Program is available to members with a Growing Savers or Smart Savers account in grades 1–12. Students earn $5 per B or higher in core subjects, up to a maximum of $20 per marking period (September–June). Report cards must be submitted in-branch within 30 days of the issue date.
