Bethlehem, PA, September 23, 2024 – People First Federal Credit Union hosted its 14th Annual Golf Classic at Woodstone Country Club, raising an impressive $30,000 for two local non-profits. Over the past 14 years, this event has contributed to various charitable organizations in the community, including The Literacy Center, The Children's Home of Easton, Tails of Valor, LifePath, and others.
This year’s record-breaking funds will support Habitat for Humanity of the Lehigh Valley and Battle Borne, both chosen by the People First Board of Directors.
“We are committed to building stronger communities, and our annual charity golf classic is just one way we give back,” said Howard Meller, President/CEO of People First. “Supporting local organizations is central to our mission as we strive to be exemplary corporate citizens.”
Special thanks to this year’s Title Sponsors, Allied Solutions and FIS, for their generous support, along with the additional 33 sponsoring companies who helped make this event possible. The event also featured exciting contests, with awards given to the top two teams, longest drive, closest to the pin in the Pot of Gold competition, and winners of the annual putting contest.
About Battle Borne
Battle Borne’s mission is to connect veterans with the resources needed to recover from their mental, emotional, and physical trauma so they can restore their lives and reintegrate into society. They achieve this through a collaborative effort of like-minded individuals and, organizations by leveraging both internal and external resources to assist veterans in our community.
Their peer-to-peer groups and drop-in centers provide access and referrals to the resources needed by our veteran community. About Habitat for Humanity of the Lehigh Valley
Stable, affordable housing is critical to education, health, and economic success across our area. Habitat’s unique homeownership program allows hardworking, low-income families to build and buy a home with a 0%-interest mortgage after completing 250 sweat equity hours.
Once in residence, they make monthly mortgage payments. Since most of its families are new to home ownership, HLV stays in contact with them, guiding them and providing support to ensure their successful transition to home ownership.
