The debt counseling session can be conducted over the phone; no appointment necessary.

Each year, we work with thousands of people to eliminate credit card debt. Our financial counselors help each person find the individual solution that works best for them. Depending on your situation, you may qualify for a GreenPath™ Debt Management Plan. It’s also possible that our debt advice and money management tools may be all you need to pay your debts on your own.

What is debt counseling and how much does a session cost?

During debt and credit counseling, a financial counselor will help you understand your financial situation, learn about your options, and make a plan to meet your financial goals.

There is no cost. Debt counseling and credit counseling are free.

What is the difference between credit counseling and debt counseling?

There is no difference. The terms “credit counseling” and “debt counseling” both refer to the process of exploring options to help you get out of debt, increase savings and take control of your financial future.

How long does a counseling session take?

The first general financial counseling session takes about an hour, although it will depend on your unique situation and what you need to accomplish your goals.

Do I need to make an appointment?

No, an appointment is not necessary. GreenPath professionals are standing by to serve you by phone. However, appointments are required for in-person services.

What if I don’t have time to conduct a credit counseling session now?

No problem. We can schedule an appointment for a more convenient time. Or you can just call us back when you have time to talk.

What will I need for my initial credit counseling session?

One of the first things a counselor will do with you is put together your budget. Having an idea of your income and expenses is helpful. If you have billing statements handy, even better!
